Laser cutting is a technique that uses a laser to evaporate material, thereby producing a cut edge. Laser cutting works by guiding the output of a high power laser through optics. Laser optics and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) are used to guide the material or the resulting laser beam. Commercial lasers used to cut materials use a motion control system to follow the CNC or G-code of the pattern to be cut into the material. The focused laser beam is aimed at the material, which then melts, burns, evaporates or is blown away by a gas jet, leaving an edge with a high-quality surface finish.
Laser cutting is a technique that uses a laser to cut materials, typically for industrial manufacturing applications, but is also starting to be used by schools, small businesses and hobbyists. Laser cutting works by directing the output of a high-powered laser through an optical device. The focused laser beam is aimed at the material, which then melts, burns, evaporates or is blown away by a gas jet, leaving an edge with a high-quality surface finish. Industrial laser cutting machines are used to cut flat sheet materials as well as structural and pipe materials.
What Are the Relevant Materials Required for This Technology?
Wood
Acrylic sheets
Laser cutting machines
Goggles
How to Implement the Technology?
Create the design in Adobe Illustrator and save it as an eps file.
Load to coreldraw and set up accordingly. (Details below)
Place a piece of wood/acrylic board into the laser cutter.
Put on goggles and do not look directly at the laser.
Send the file to print using the laser cutter.
Make sure the design is cut/rasterized correctly. If not change the settings and repeat step 5. Be careful not to move the wood/acrylic sheet while checking.
Remove the cutting material from the machine.
Features of Laser Cutting Machine
High Accuracy and Precision Cutting
Laser cutting uses a very small, powerful laser to deliver a focused beam to the material it is cutting, resulting in extremely high precision.
Provides More Accurate Delivery Times
Using a laser cutting machine can be more economical and efficient because it can produce parts or assemblies in high volume, which means we can provide our customers with more accurate lead times because we have better control over our processes.
Higher Plate Utilization and Less Waste
The precision and accuracy of the laser cutting machine means that it can utilize a high percentage of the sheet, which not only minimizes waste, but also reduces the time required for manufacturing because it takes less time to change to new material.
Extreme Cutting Versatility
Laser cutting machines can be used for products in a variety of industries, such as: clothing, cloth toys, computerized embroidery cutting, molds, crafts, bamboo and wood, advertising and architectural decoration, packaging and printing, paper and products, rubber, plastic, fabric, leather, woolen fabrics, crystal, plexiglass, tiles, jade, bamboo and wood products, etc.
